THE LIQUID STATE Liquids have no fixed shape but have a fixed volume. They take the shape of the container in which they are kept. Liquids flow and change shape so they are not rigid but can be fluid A liquid is made up of tiny vibrating particles of matter, such as atoms, held together by intermolecular bonds
The liquid state particles move freely and have greater space between each other as compared to particles in the solid state
The distinctive property of liquid state is surface tension, leading to wetting
phenomena. Water is by far the most common liquid on Earth .
Liquids require a relatively narrow temperature/pressure range to exsits.
