ACTIVITIES FOR

WARM-UP & WRAP-UP


Warm-up activities| MORE

• Greeting: What’s your names? How are you?


• Actions: hi-five, wave, hug, fist bump…
• Retell the rules

Name tags

• Fun activities for checking attendance + write names on the

• Name cards (identity) at the beginning of the class
• Pick cards and put in Present/Absent boxes

Yes-No Circles

• Draw 2 circles on the floor


• Raise Y/N questions.
• Ss run to Yes or No circle. Then Ss in each circle find a partner
and talk to him/her.
• E.g: Did you go to the supermarket yesterday?
• Yes: What did you buy?
• No: Where did you go? Or What did you do?
The lucky one

• T prepares a box of topics and a box of students’ names


• Call on 2 students to pick a topic and a name card
• The “lucky” person has to talk about that topic in 2-3 minutes.
• Then the others raise questions.
• A present for him/her if they perform well.
The singing circle

• Play an exciting song.


• Put a hoop on the floor.
• Ss go around and sing the song. They must step into the hoop
while walking.
• Then stop the song, who’s in the hoop will be asked 2-3
questions or do a challenge (sing, dance, mime actions, tell
jokes, make sentences, …)
Spin the bottle

• Sit students in a circle with a bottle in the middle.


• Spin the bottle.
• When it stops spinning the student it is pointing to has to
answer a question.
What’s missing?

• Use flashcards
• Check attendance: Who’s missing?

• Describe a person (appearance)


• Rap a song => send a message
• Fly a plane to choose a topic
• Survey about personal information
Starter

• Song Hockey Pockey


• 4 “pieces of pizza” with 4 questions
• Combine actions with questions: say a question => Ss show the
right action. Who’s wrong has to answer the question.
Starter - F&F 1, 2 (Thy)

• Teacher says => make a circle in 10s. + Remind rules: say 1


rule + show gestures
• Riddle/Quiz time
• Check attendance: Ss say their name and a word starting with
the first letter of name.

Mr. Know everything

• Choose one student to sit on a chair in front of class. He’s


called Mr. Know …
• Other students can ask him any questions related to the lesson.
• T can support him when needed.
• If he can correctly answered 5 questions in a row, he will get a
present/ badge/ logo.
Captain

• Say goodbye + actions


• Have a good day
Class diaries

• Prepares each student a mini diary.


• After each lesson, Ss are asked to write what is interesting and
what is challenging or difficult to them (tell where they need
more support)
• Collect the diaries and read some.
• Explain more where necessary.
Classroom Reader

• Invite a student to pick a classroom reader and read through it


as a class.
• Make the story as interactive as possible by asking questions
• Get students to predict what is going to happen next in the
story.
Exit Pass/ Ticket

• Ask students to produce something either written or spoken in


order to leave the room.
• Ss tell one or two new vocabulary words
• Ask Ss to self-rate their understanding
