room in which the major
or more formal meals are
eaten.
DINING THROUGH THE AGES

Before Now
Ideal dining room contains:
• The right-sized dining table
• Chairs that make a statement
• A buffet or china cabinet
• Good lighting
Types of dining rooms
• Contemporary
• Traditional
• Minimalist
Contemporary dining room

 Contemporary dining room sets encompass a

wide range of styles, but, for the most part,
they consist of a sturdy, rectangular table,
often made of wood, paired with fabric dining
chairs. Contemporary dining room sets are
actually very versatile and can fit into any
style of room, whether your style is more
traditional or more modern. Colors for this
type of dining room set are often muted, with
solid woods and neutral fabrics for the chairs.
Traditional
dining room
• These styles are often less rigid than
contemporary styles. While contemporary
dining room sets are often composed of clean
lines, traditional sets offer a little bit more
variety in terms of shapes and often feature
more elaborate chair designs. Some traditional
dining room sets include farmhouse-inspired
styles or vintage elements, and often the chairs
are not padded (though they can be).
Minimalist
dining room
 If you’ve noticed the trend toward
glass tabletops and metal
structures, you’re probably
familiar with minimalist dining
room sets. These tend to be very
modern in design, pairing glass
tabletops with modern bases, or
metal elements and simple,
modern chairs. Most minimalist
dining sets are neutral, like
contemporary dining room sets,
but are much more stark in their
designs.

What is the best location for a dining
room
• The dining room is the space where the
family sits together to have a meal and
where guests are entertained. The location of
a dining room depends on factors like
proximity to the living room, the kitchen,
wash basin, other rooms, etc.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT – DINING TABLE AS PER VASTU

• The dining room or area has a special place in Vaastu

shastra. The room should contain a table large enough for
family and guests to entertain with food. Keep in mind that
the dining area is directly related to the health, harmony as
well as the prosperity of the family. A good dining room,
which has been made using vaastu principles, often brings
strength to all members of the family.
A dining room that is in harmony will naturally strengthen
human relationships among friends and family.
