INTRODUCTION
• Formed in 1946 when Milk became a symbol of
protest. In 1946 milk producers of village in Kheda
district went on strike and refused to give their milk to
the middlemen as middlemen were exploiting them
and farmers were not getting what they should.

• Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel suggested them to form a co-


operative, following it they formed a co-op. it started
with 2 villages in Kheda district and 247 litres of milk.
Under the guidance of Tribhuvandas Patel and Morarji
Desai dairy co-op. was formed, now known as AMUL.
NDDB
• 1.7 crore milk producers are
members of milk cooperatives
• 57 lakh are women members
from about 70000 villages in
India.
• India produces about 237
million tons of milk which is
28% of total milk produced in
world.
• It surpassed USA and now is
the largest milk producer in
the world .

Veterinary services

• AMUL have 1,400


veterinary doctors
• They provide veterinary
services at home, call
services, app services, fast
services
• Track their cattle with the
help of tag
• If any cattle is ill they will
stop collecting milk from it.
Animal nutrition

• Provides nutritious food to


increase productivity of milk
• They also start growing hay
with fertilizers, started
organic farming
• Try to increase female
population in cows .
• Also they use urea to
increase productivity .
AMUL IN INDIA
• 90 plants PAN India
• Daily procurement of milk- 3 crores (approx)
• 80% supplied as liquid milk
• AMUL's chocolate - India, Tanzania, Venezuela,
Madagascar, Peru, And Ecuador.
• Exports : 10%-20% of it's production.
EMPLOYMENT
 36 lakhs farmers (in Gujarat).
 36% of members are women.
 Approx 2000 employees in one plant.
 Top management : researcher, microbiologist,
dairy science, robotics, etc.
TRANSPORT
• Two major channels:
upstream channel .( farmers to village
cooperative)

• AMUL transports its products according


to their temperature basis to keep them
fresh .
4 types Fresh , Chilled ,Cold , Ambient .

• Downstream channel which helps in


the ease of transport .( Manufacturers to
retailers)

• It is available in over 1,000,000 retail


outlets across India through its network
of over 3600 distributors. While for
Amul pouch milk, there are 17
distributors.
