Contractions

For example:

Contractions will not → won’t

do not → don’t
Contraction simply means ‘to
shorten’. So when we talk about cannot → can’t
contracting words it means we you will → you’ll
make them smaller.
I am → I’m
 How do we do it?
Sometimes it’s nice and easy
and we can simply take out a
letter or a few and replace it I am → Iam → I’m
with an apostrophe.

Sometimes it can be a little

trickier and words like ‘will not’ will not → won’t
become won’t. However if you
try saying willn’t it becomes shall not → shan’t
very clear why.
