ORIGIN
Aklanon represents the identity of the people
living in the province of Aklan, including their
customs, language, and culture. Interestingly, the
Aklanon people pronounce their province
"Akean," derived from the word "akaean," which
describes, quite vividly, a location where the river
seems to bubble or boil (akae-akae) in the
summer. Aklan's distinctive character and sense of
belonging are enhanced by this distinctive
language and cultural history.
CULTURE
The vibrant fusion of historical influences
and indigenous customs is known as
Aklanon culture. The complex tapestry of
regional customs and the history of Spanish
colonization have shaped Aklanon culture,
which is distinguished by its close-knit
communities, colorful festivals, strong
Catholic influences, and a strong bond with
the natural world. The identity and legacy of
the community are reflected in the diverse
artistic expressions of the culture, which
include traditional music, dance, and crafts.
