OBJECTIVES;
AT THE END OF THE LESSON THE STUDENTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO:

A. Discuss the Religious and Non- Religious festival of selected Philippine


Visayan Festivals;
B. Appreciate the importance of celebrating the Religous and Non-
Religioius festival dances and;
C. Perform one religious and non-religious Festival dance in Visayas
Island.

of a festival by watching a short video clip. If the team already

RELIGIOUS FESTIVAL

Religious festival- this festival are held to honor


the local Roman Catholic patron saint. They
believe that through their Faith on their patron
saints they bless with their city’s harvest and
bountiful blessings on the whole year.

Sinulog Festival- The famous Sinulog festival in
Cebu City is held every year on the third Sunday
of January.
Sinulog festival is a celebration of thanksgiving
to thier patron saint. Sr.Sto.Niño
SINULOG FESTIVAL
The festival is characterized by a very long parade
with many groups of people dressed in colourful
costumes, finding their way through the streets
while dancing the Sinulog.

Dinagsa festival paying
homeage to the Sto. Nino de
Cadiz.
The choices was inspired by
unique event- the lamding of
12 whales on Cadiz shores

Hiligaynon language that means a Vow or
promise.

*It was organized and established by the


provincian government of Negros
Occidental on May 1993.

* Masskara Festival is an annual festival


with highlights held every fourth Sunday
of October in Bacolod, Philippines.

* Masskara Festival is held every 4th


Sunday of October in Bacolod City.
Masskara came from the spanish word
"Mascara" means mask and "Cara" means
face.
