What is injury?

 It can be a result of an accident
or an international act.
That is why injuries can be
considered intentional or
unintentional
What are unintentional and intention injuries?

Types of Intentional Injuries
1. Domestic Violence- abusive and intimidating
behaviour used by one person to control the
other. The violence occurs in a domestic
setting, or at home in the abusive person
maybe partner, parents, caregiver or a
relative. It include physical, emotional
violence. They also suffer psychologically
and emotionally as well.
2. Bullying- is an undesired aggressive
behaviour involving a real or perceived
superiority over others.
The Anti-Bullying Law in the Philippines aims to keep
students safe from this type of intentional injury.
a. Verbal Bullying- people who say or write mean things
about you. Acts such as teasing, name-calling,
inappropriate sexual comments, taunting, and
threatening are considered verbal bullying.
b. Social Bullying- also called relational bullying,
involves hurting someone’s reputation or
relationships. Influencing others not to be friends with
someone, public embarrassment, spreading rumours
about someone
c. Physical Bullying- hurting a person body or
possession.
d. Cyber Bullying- through electronic technology like
cellular phones, computers and communication tools
like in social media.
3. Gang and Youth Violence- a gang is group of
adolescence who band together. Gang members are
mostly involved serious youth violence like extortion,
theft and robbery and in selling drugs causing injuries to
their victims, even death.

4. Illegal Fraternity-Related Violence- a fraternity is


group with common purpose or interest. Mostly based in
colleges and universities. Most youth join fraternities for
belongingness.

5. Sexual Abuse- is an unwanted non-consensual sexual


activity where the abuser intentionally uses force, threats
and takes advantage of the victim.
The following are some examples of sexual
abuse
 Unwanted kiss or touch
 Unwanted violent/painful sexual activity
 Rape or attempted rape
 Refusal to use method for birth control (e. g
condom)
 Sexual contact to drunk, drugged,
unconscious or unable to tell a clear " ye“" or
“ no”
 Threatens someone into unwanted sexual
activity
 Repeated pressure on someone into sex or to
perform sex acts
 Repeated sexual insults
What are the forms of sexual abuse?
a. Molestation- is a sexual abuse of an adult to
a person, either child or adult, for sexual
pleasure or profit.
b. Rape- is a sexual assault by sexual
penetration without consent or when the
victim in not capable of giving consent.
c. Incest- is a sexual relation between close
relatives.
Here some reason why victims of incest are
reluctant to report about abuse.
 Fear that his or her parent will be penalized
by the law or the family will break up
 Victim does not realize the form of abuse
thinking it is normal or happens in families
 The fear of how other people will react about
the abuse like accusation of wrongdoing or
that no one will believe the victim.
 Victim should realize the need to report the
abuse for it to stop and for them to recover.
Who are the rape victims?
 Rape victim usually female and offenders are usually male.\
 The Anti-Rape Law of 1997 reclassified rape as a crime
against persons from its previous classification as a crime
aginst chastity.
 According to the Republic Act No. 8353, known as the Anti-
Rape Law of 1997, rape is commited under the sollowing
ciscustances:

 Through force, threat, or intimidations;
 When the victim is deprived of reason or is unconscious
 Through fraudulent machination or grave abuse of authority
 And when victim is under 12 years old of age or
determined even if none of the above condition are present.
 Note: Always remember the difference between a good and
a bad touch.

8. Kidnapping and abduction kidnapping is a


crime by taking away of forcefully transporting
a person, unlawfully without a consent.
Abduction- is when deceit or forced is used
in order to take someone from their home or
relatives.

9. Acts of Terror- is a criminal act, which aims a


state of fear in the general public, a group, or a
particular person. Terrorist groups create terror
using violence, fear and intimidation.
