 3. Using these Sacred Scripture passages and Church Teachings, discuss the
concept of Christian Marriage as against the proposed Same-Sex Marriage.

 Sacred Scriptures:

 Gen. 1:27, 31 - God created man in His image: in the divine image He
created him; male and female He created them… God blessed them saying,
“be fertile and multiply: fill the earth and subdue it… God looked at
everything He had made and He found it very good.”

 Gen. 2:18, 24 - “The Lord God said, “it is not good for man to be alone. I
will make a suitable partner for him.” “Therefore, a man leaves his father
and his mother and cleaves to his wife and they become one flesh.”
Church Teaching:

 CFC 1062 - “Human sexuality is God’s gift to us. We are


created according to God’s image precisely as male or female….
we share in God’s life and love and creativity.”

 cf CCC 1064 - “…marriage has the social purpose of propagating
the human race by sharing in God’s own creativity.”

 cf CCC 1065 - “This expresses the personal purpose of marriage
as the mutual love, support, and unity of the couple.”
Church Teaching:

 Familiaris Consortio 11-13 – “God created man and


woman in His own image and likeness through love
and for love… man and woman are called to love, both
in body and spirit.”

 Familiaris Consortio 33 – “Chastity signifies spiritual
energy capable of defending love from the perils of
selfishness and aggressiveness, and able to advance it
towards its full realization.”

“The child grew and become strong, filled with
wisdom; and the favor of god was upon Him.”

“You are the light of the world. Your light must
shine upon men so that they will see goodness in
your acts and give glory to heavenly Father.”

Learning Activities:
1. Mary and Joseph brought Jesus up with care, guidance,
authority, and love. Did this have any effect on Jesus’ life?
2. Draw your lifeline on a piece of paper, marking important and
significant events in your lives,
3. Draw out the effects (happy/sad, etc) of the events on them and
the cause of these effects.
4. How have these experiences affected your
lives/personality/outlook in life?
5. As future parents, mentors, leaders, or religious, how do you see
yourselves nurturing and bringing up the children entrusted to
you by the Lord?
