WHAT IS BMI?
• It is a measure of body fat based on your
weight in relation to your height.
• It is more of an indicator than a direct
measurement of a person’s total body fat.
• As the BMI score increase, so does the person’s
total body fat increases.

HOW TO CALCULATE BMI
•Example:
For an adult with height of 180 cm and
weight of 75 kg. First step is to convert the height
into meters. As there are 100cm in a meter, we
divided our figure by 100. this gives us 1.8cm.
BMI= 75
BMI= 75
BMI= 23.15
WEIGHT MANAGEMENT

healthful level.

CLASSIFICATIONS OF WEIGHT

•Underweight
•Normal or healthy weight
•Overweight
•Obese
UNDERWEIGHT

•A person weigh less than the


healthy range for his or her
age, gender and height.
NORMAL WEIGHT

•A person’s weight is in the


healthy range for his or her
age, gender and height.
OVERWEIGHT

•A person weigh more than


the healthy range for his or
her age, gender and height.
OBESE

•A person weighs much more


than the healthy range for his
or her age, gender and height.
WAIST CIRCUMFERENCE

• People have different patterns of body fat distribution, and


these patterns correspond to different risk levels for
disease.
• The location of body fat accumulation influeces a person’s
health risk.
• The risk is lower for those who have fat distributed more
around the hips and things (called gynoid obesity and
commonly referred to as a pear-shaped physique).

• Refers to bodily movement produced by skeletal
muscles.
• It refers energy expenditure and produces
progressive health benefits.
• Physical activity requires only low to moderate
intensity effort.
EXERCISE
• Is a type of physical that requires planned,
structured, and repetitive bodily movement
to improve or maintain one or more
components of physical fitness.
INTENSITY OF EXERCISE

•When trying to develop the CP (cardio-


respiratory) system, many people
ignore intensity of exercise.
•For muscles to develop, they have to be
overloaded to given point.
