By the end of this lesson, you should
be able to :

Understand the concept of

conservation of energy

Define the mechanical energy

You should already

calculate the mechanical energy know :
• The K.E
• The P.E
Let’s achieve the First objective

Understand the concept of

conservation of energy
Video time The law of conservation of energy
Question : Do you think
the energy can be
converted from one
form to another? Yes/
no
Give an example?

5 minutes
The law of conservation of energy
the law of conservation of energy
States that in a closed, isolated system,
energy can neither be created or
destroyed, rather energy is conserved.
The total change of energy in any system is
always equal to the total energy
transferred into or out of the system.
In other words , energy can be transported
from one place to another , transferred
between systems, and converted to
different forms.
Concept Check
Read the following statements and choose the correct option
a. The electrical energy is converted to thermal energy(‫)طاقه حرارية‬
b. The electrical energy is destroyed or vanished into air
c. The electrical energy is converted to Kinetic energy
Let’s achieve the second objective

Define the mechanical energy

Note :

GPE=m g h

K.E= m

𝒗𝟐
Refer to the text and the figure to answer the
following questions:

𝒗 𝟏
1- in your notebook, write down the definition
of mechanical energy.
𝒉𝟐 2- The mechanical energy of the bus at
position 1 is …………..
𝒉𝟏 𝒉𝟑 𝑣 3
3- The mechanical energy of the bus at
position 1 and 2 are …………..

Objective: define the mechanical energy

Is the mechanical energy conserved ?

We can conclude that :
If there are external forces ,then the final energy is the sum of
the initial energy and the work done on the system

reaches the flour?
