ABSTRACT:
This study explores the over consumption of paper during educational sessions included final exams, Midterms and other quizzes &
assignments which lead to financial, environmental and logistic challenges. Unnecessary consumption of paper is the main cause.
Digitalize exams, reduce the unnecessary usage of paper and promoting paperless activities among students are some of the
solutions. By putting these strategies into practice make a better environment for all of us.
GIFT University, known for its advance management and its commitment to sustainability, has
been facing challenges regarding the over usage of paper

Causes of Overconsumption of Paper:


University has experienced the large number of enrollment over the year which cause a huge
amount of students appear in exams per semester.
Faculty members often print multiple copies of question papers regarding security issues.
Lack of awareness among the students and university management about the excessive usage of
paper which cause a huge amount of wastage per year.
The absence of effective paper management during exams is the main cause of
overconsumption.
Effects:
The cost of purchasing a huge amount of paper just to waste also effect the university’s budget.
Excessive usage of paper also effects the environment cause deforestation, waste generation and carbon
emission
Managing and disposing of large volumes of paper after exams pose logistical challenges and may require
additional resources and manpower.
Potential Solutions:
Invest in digital platforms for exams conduction.
Aware students and management about the effects of overconsumption of paper.
Aware faculty to minimize the unnecessary printing of paper and also reduce the over use of
paper.
Increase the paper less based activities among students in university.
