 Exporting a .acd Project File

Using Windows® “save” procedure, project stored as .acd file:

Because RSLogix 5000 projects

contain tag names, the .acd files
can be large.

Exporting a .acd Project File

You cannot directly save a .acd file to a disk:

• If you attempt to do so, you will receive an
error message indicating insufficient space on
the disk, regardless of the size of the project
file.
• To save to a disk, a project file must be
saved to the hard drive and then copied to a
disk.

 Importing a .l5k Text File

.l5k file must be imported:

• Original .l5k file will remain
• Separate .acd project file is created

Although you can change the extension of a

project file through Windows Explorer, this is
not recommended. To convert a file, use the
import/export functions.

 Importing a .l5k Text File

The required Import/Export version for

RSLogix 5000 version 16 is 2.7. This version
can be modified and saved in older text files:

 Multiple Backup Files

By default, software automatically saves incremental backup project (.acd) files:

• Backup file created each time “Save” selected

• Quantity of files configurable
• Default is 3
