PROBLEM STATEMENT :-
A descriptive study to assess the level of fear related to
pregnancy and childbirth and its associated factors among
primigravidae mothers with a view to develop an informative
booklet on childbirth preparation at selected hospitals of
district Kangra , HP 2024.
AIM OF THE STUDY :-
To assess the level of fear related to pregnancy and childbirth
and its associated factors among primigravidae mothers with a
view to develop an informative booklet on childbirth
preparation .
OBJECTIVES:-
 To determine the level of fear related to pregnancy and childbirth and
associated factors responsible for fear related among primigravida
mothers.
 To find out the association between the level of fear related to
childbirth and associated factors responsible for fear regarding
pregnancy and childbirth among primigravida mothers.
 To find out the association between level of fear related to pregnancy
and childbirth among primigravida mothers and their selected socio
demographic variables.
REVIEW OF LITERATURE :-
• Sharma K , Vyas H , Gothwal M , Arumugam G (2023) carried out a
descriptive study to assess the fear of childbirth and its contributing factor at a
tertiary care hospital Jodhpur among 269 primigravidae women of age 19 – 31
year by using consecutive sampling . The result of the study revealed that the fear
of childbirth among primigravidae is (24.4%) having severe level , (44.8%)
having high level and 24.1% having moderate level, (6.7%) low level of fear of
childbirth. Major contributing factor for fear of childbirth was Fear of labor pain
(80.7%) , and least common was disturbed self image and feeling of insecurity
(27.9%). Majority of the primigravidae women face fear of childbirth, as
contributed by various factors that affect fear of childbirth.

• Sharma B , Jungari S, Lawange A (2022) conducted a qualitative
study to assess the factors affecting fear of childbirth among urban
women in Pune, India among 26 eligible women of age 18 to 35 years
by using structured interviewing questionnaire sheet . The result of the
study revealed that women with first- and second time pregnancy
were affected by the fear of childbirth . t is observed that fear related
to child , the psychological aspects attributed to fear of pregnancy and
negative pregnancy/delivery experiences are the most prominent
theme attributed to fear of childbirth in both nulliparous and
multiparous women.
