Introduction

At the end of 2011, Thailand had terrible floods. The total damage was over 1,440 Thai baht and the deaths were over 100, namely 600 people died. It has been here since the end of July and all of the way to this month of December

Why did Thailand Flood in 2011

Reason 1: Monsoon Season Thailand is a tropical country and has a monsoon season every year. This season brings lots of rain and causes flash flooding.

Reason 2: Tropical Storm Nock-ten It originated from Vietnam which heavy precipitation in the North and North-east part of Thailand. The water from the storm started from the north moved along the tributaries of the Chao Phraya, Water traveled south to the Gulf of Thailand onwards to the sea

Reason 3: Rainfall Thailand had a lot more rain than the previous years, This year, It was 344 percent over the average .

Reason 4: Deforestation The forests were slowly have been cut down by people to make industrial estates and housing. This removes natural dams which absorb and delay the water. The government created levees to control the water and replace forests. CITE VIDEO

Reason 5: The Levees In September Broken Floodgates allowed the water into irrigation canals and inundate paddy fields in Singburi, Angthong and Ayutthaya . In the start of October. Some dams were beginning to overload and forced to discharge worsening flooding. Flooding in Ayutthaya worsened as water entered the ancient capital and flooded several industrial estates.

How did the Flood Affect Me?

I am very fortunate that it didnt affect my familys life and jobs. We blocked our gates with sandbags and stored everything upstairs. We bought water, food and a fridge to store them. The shops didnt have half of everything we need after using half of everything.

How did the Flood Affect Farmers and their crops

It affected most farmers and destroyed their crops. The crops were to be used to make food like rice. The crops were destroyed, giving us less supplies to make food. Also some of them lost their home and family. They couldnt make their crops because their machine were destroyed which cost them a lot of money
