SHM of a mass-spring system

Angular speed and period can be found from the second law of motion
Springs connected in Series
Springs connected in Parallel
Summary
Series connection Parallel connection Mass-spring system
(one after another)
Angular speed

Period of oscillations
Example
When an object of mass 1.5 kg is attached to the end of two springs in series, with
spring constants k1=100 N/m and k2=200 N/m, the system comes to an equilibrium,
as shown in the figure. Calculate the period of the simple harmonic motion that
will occur when the object is released after extending it. (Take π=3)
Exercise
An object of mass 1.5 kg is attached to two springs in parallel, with spring constants
k1=100 N/m and k2=200 N/m, as shown in the figure. Calculate the period of the
simple harmonic motion that will occur after extending and releasing the object.
(Take π=3)
