Serves approximately 700 students, PreK to Second Grade Serves 70+ faculty members One full-time media clerk One full-time media specialist

Media Center is in the middle of the building on the main hall Media Center is easily accessible to all classrooms

Media Center has two other entrances that are NOT main. We call the Library the Pirate Cove

Main doors are recessed from the hall Welcoming mural shows a ship and pirates.

MEDIA SPECIALIST CIRCULATION DESK


The MS office and circulation desk are centrally located and right next to one another MS office has two walls with windows which allows views of the MC within the room Media Clerk has a FULL view of the entire Media Center

COMPUTER AREAS
6 computers available for use in MC, a set of 4 and a set of 2 with a printer and scanner Situated in two rooms of Media Center. Computer lab with 30 25 computers for Special Class. All classrooms have 2 computers for student use plus 1 computer for teacher use

THE LABS
Mainly used by MS for orientation to the MC and other lessons Classroom teachers are allowed to sign up for the usage of the labs.

SEATING AREAS
Main seating area is made of 5 adult-sized rectangular tables Drop-down screen accessible from ceiling to be used with lessons taught in this area Two square tables used mainly during faculty meetings

WORK AND STORAGE AREAS

Kitchen and AV rooms house additional teacher resources AV room contains the laminator and the Teacher Resource room contains the AV equipment for viewing videos Outside the AV room in the Media Center, teachers have access to 2/15/2012 11 the die-cut machine and a poster maker

Problem: Teacher resources need to be organized or centralized in some way
Within existing work areas, there is room to fix this problem. Volunteer time is the solution to reorganizing existing resources. With the Media Specialists help and blessing, volunteers could help organize the resources for teacher use.

Accessibility Media Centers available for student and teacher use throughout each instructional day of school Hours of Operation are 7:35 2:35 for students and 7:30 -3:35 for teachers and staff Media Centers will operate with FLEXIBLE scheduling to make resources available at point and time of need

Cooperative Planning
As stated earlier, the district has a policy about the media personnel and instructional staff working together to develop and improve curriculum. A statement in regards to continuous planning between the media specialist and teachers of each building should be included.
