Mission:
• Their mission is to serve those in need throughout our state. They work tirelessly with
community partners and volunteers to continue making an impact and fulfilling their mission
of Fighting Hunger Statewide.
• In 2022, Utah Food Bank distributed 56.1 million meals via a statewide network of 230 partner
agencies located in all 29 counties.
• Utah Food Bank is currently in the process of a multi-pronged expansion project to more
efficiently and effectively fight hunger here in Utah.
• They doubled the size of their Southern Distribution Center in St. George, it is under
construction on our 77,000-square-foot Timpanogos Distribution Center in Springville, as well as
on their 18,000-square-foot Southeastern Distribution Center with attached pantry in Blanding.
• As Utah’s only member of Feeding America’s nationwide network of more than 200 food banks,
they are proud to be a part of the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief organization.

Impact
• Each year the Utah Food Bank (UFB) distributes 56,179,709 pounds of
food to people facing hunger.
• In 2022, Utah Food Bank distributed 67.3 million pounds of food, the
equivalent of 56.1 million meals, to people facing hunger across the
state.
• In 2022, the outpouring support received from the community helped
Utah Food Bank to collect and distribute the equivalent of 56.1 million
meal statewide.
• In 2022, Utah Food Bank rescued over 19.3 million pounds of edible food
from 338 grocery stores across the state, thereby keeping millions of
pounds of foods out of local landfills.
Learned/Experience
• I had to pleasure to wok with the Utah Food Bank
• I learned to sort food according to the different expiration dates,
category, gathered and collected food in boxes.
• I learned to flyer poster for events, talk to business owners to ask for
their permissions and encourage them to participate in the 5K walks
and other events they had.
• I learned to weight and sized food. For example, we had to put certain
lbs. in a bag to separate the pasta to have it send to people or
different businesses that feed people in need.
Catholic Community Services
Mission:
• Their mission is to practice gospel values of love, compassion and hope
through service, support and collaboration.
• As an agency affiliated with the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City, they will:
• Work in partnership with other social service organizations.
• Respect diversity, individual needs, beliefs and values.
• Be fiscally responsible to our donors.
• Involve volunteers in fulfilling our mission.
• Base our activities on the foundations of Catholic Social Teaching.

Impact
In 2022:
• The Catholic Community Services (CCS) distributed 2,149,176 pounds
of food to the people in need.
• The CCS provided 440,696 hot meals.
• The CCS helped 625 refugees to be resettled.
• The CCS assisted 1,342 refugees.
• The CCS gave out 50,551 grocery bags to students.
• The CCS served 83,522 individuals in homelessness.
Learned/Experience
• I learned to cut and dice potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms,
chicken, and ham.
• I learned to properly clean a kitchen and disinfect with products to
clean the counter, the floor, and to mop.
• I learned to organize the food to put in the shelve and the day went
through in the Ogden warehouse.
• I learned to be efficient with my time when I categorized the different
donations that we had to go through in the warehouse.
SLCC Food Pantry
• Mission:
• Their mission is to mainly help people in need and provide food to
students, staff, and those who have a S# or show their Onecard.
• To collect food such as fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy products,
prepared sandwiches salads, bread, pasta, instant meals, ramen,
noodles and baking mixes.
• They also collect personal hygiene items such menstrual products.
• You can visit them as much as you would like!

• Development office (get grants for supplement of food)
Impact
Learned/Experience
• I learned to be proactive while waiting for people to come to the
pantry.
• I learned to check the fridge temperature to make sure the food is
good.
• I learned to create good conversations with those who normally
visited the SLCC Food Pantry on a daily basis.
• I learned about the portions that we need to give to the people that
come in to get food. There are limits per household and also in the
different food pantries.
