Luke 17:32 NKJV

Remember what happened to Lot's wife.

Our lives will always be preserved on the pages of our own history and those who may want to look back at it may find inspirations or lessons from them.

Genesis 19:12 KJV And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place: 16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city. 17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. 26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. 16 The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke by Elijah. The New King

The woman of Shunem (2 Kings 4:8----17NLT)

day Elisha went to the town of Shunem. A wealthy woman lived there, and she urged him to come to her home for a meal. After that, whenever he passed that way, he would stop there for something to eat. 9 She said to her husband, I am sure this man who stops in from time to time is a holy man of God. 10 Lets build a small room for him on the roof and furnish it with a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp. Then he will have a place to stay whenever he comes by. 11 One day Elisha returned to Shunem, and he went up to this upper room to rest. 12 He said to his servant Gehazi, Tell the woman from Shunem I want to speak to her. When she appeared, 13 Elisha said to Gehazi, Tell her, We appreciate the kind concern you have shown us. What can we do for you? Can we put in a good word for you to the king or to the commander of the army? No, she replied, my family takes good care of me.

14 Later

Elisha asked Gehazi, What can we do for

her? Gehazi replied, She doesnt have a son, and her husband is an old man. 15 Call her back again, Elisha told him. When the woman returned, Elisha said to her as she stood in the doorway, 16 Next year at this time you will be holding a son in your arms! No, my lord! she cried. O man of God, dont deceive me and get my hopes up like that. 17 But sure enough, the woman soon became pregnant. And at that time the following year she had a son, just as Elisha had said.

The woman of Samaria (John 4:7; 39) v7There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give me a drink." v39Many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman's testimony, "He told me all that I ever did.

All people, great and small are somewhat defined by the circumstances under which they are faced to contend with in life. How we write our history depends on the choices that we make.

Gen 19:12-17

Three Lessons

1. She Was Almost Saved warning came and she responded to it Sense of security followed by a great warning of approaching danger and then the miraculous deliverance suddenly an instant death! This pattern has been played and said too many times.

She started out right on the path and was almost there ,but did not make it. . . . She was almost saved! For that, the Lord tells us to remember her. In the Christian life there has to be a steady advancement because nothing spiritual is ever in a state of neutral and being static. It is always pressing forward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus! (Phil 3:14) 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

2. Almost Saved But She Perished

They have been convinced of the risk. They believed that the danger is fast approaching they have moved to be safe from that danger. They are out of the danger zone but . it was the looking back that finally got her. 23 The sun was coming up as Lot reached the town of Zoar, 24 and the Lord sent burning sulfur down like rain on Sodom and Gomorrah. 25 He destroyed those cities and everyone who lived in them, as well as their land and the trees and grass that grew there. 26 On the way, Lot's wife looked back and was turned into a block of salt.

3. Her Life is a Warning The pillar of salt that Lots wife became may have long since been eroded into nothing ,but the moral of the story is not the pillar of salt but the warning that comes from this story. What was it that caused Jesus to say, Remember Lots wife?

. What was it that caused Jesus to say, Remember Lots wife?Luke 17:26-32
the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noahs day. 27 In those days, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went about their daily businesseating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building29 until the morning Lot left Sodom. Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 Yes, it will be business as usual right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed. 31 On that day a person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack. A person out in the field must not return home. 32 Remember what happened to Lots wife!
26 When

Our world is now so much like Noah and Lots days. We are being warned of the future judgment to come. One thing is sure , we do not know when. We have to come to the understanding that the patience , mercy and compassion of God is not eternal. Those who do not consent to willingly obey his command will in the end become milestones of remembrance as pillars of salt littered along the way for other faithful travelers as a reminder to them as they make their way toward heaven.

Conclusion
If the Lord deemed it proper for me to give you an advise today to remember Lots wife, I would take the same words that the angels used that day so long ago in Sodom. 12 Then the men said to Lot, Have you anyone else here? Son-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whomever you have in the city take them out of this place! 17 Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be destroyed.
