    1. A commuter airplane off course over the Atlantic Ocean reported experiencing mechanical problems around 9:15 pm. The pilot sent two calls, one to Boston Logan International Airport and one to the regional airport in nearby Beverly. Air traffic controllers at the two airports reported the angles shown in the diagram below. How far away is the plane from each airport? To which airport is the plane closer? (Use the Law of Sines to find your answers.)

    2. A surveyor with transit at point A sights points B and C on either side of Lums Pond. She finds the measure of the angle between the sightings to be 72.

    A. Find the distance BC across the pond to the nearest tenth of a meter. (Use the Law of Cosines to find your answer.)

    B. Find m B and m C. (Use the Law of Cosines to find your answers.)
