NEW POLL: Murphys Lead Expands to Six, Momentum Growing Heading into Final Stretch
October 25 2012

Gotham Research Group poll mirrors Quinnipiac Poll; Murphy up 47-41 overall, 51-39 among women Murphy lead grows following debates; Strong plurality think he did a better job
Rocky HillToday, the Murphy campaign released the following memorandum from Gotham Research Group on a poll conducted for the campaign. This new poll comes one day after the independent Quinnipiac poll showed that Murphy has taken a six point lead in the campaign. The trend in Connecticut is clear: the more voters learn about Linda McMahons right-wing Republican views, and the more they see the candidates debate the issues that matter to them, the more they move toward Chris Murphy, said Eli Zupnick, a spokesman for the Murphy campaign. As recent polls have shown, Chriss momentum is growing as he campaigns across the state discussing his work creating jobs, investing in the middle class, and fighting for women and their health care rights. Voters are seeing through Linda McMahons $80 million campaign of stale smears and attack ads, and just as we saw in 2010, she has clearly hit a ceiling as voters focus on the election and make their final decision about the race.

Jeffrey Levine, Ph.D. Recent 2012 Connecticut U.S. Senate Race Polling October 25, 2012

The results of a recent survey of registered likely voters in Connecticut demonstrate that Congressman Chris Murphy now has a clear lead over Linda McMahon in the close race for U.S. Senate. The survey, conducted October 22-24, demonstrates that Murphy currently has a 6-point lead over McMahon (47% to 41%). These results track closely with the most recent October 19-22 Quinnipiac Poll that shows Murphy with a 6-point lead over McMahon (49% to 43%) a 7-point swing from the October 4 Quinnipiac survey which showed McMahon with a 1 point lead over Murphy (48% to 47%). Murphy has a 68-point advantage over McMahon among Democrats (80% to 12%) and a 12-point lead among women (51% to 39%). Consistent with the October 19-22 Quinnipiac Poll, the gap between the candidates among men has narrowed; Murphy now has a 1-point edge among men (44% to 43%).
