Timoteo

Greetings! The year 2013 has begun and our students are working at full steam to finish their PACES. We can see the progress that they have been making in their classes and it makes us happy to see their smiling faces. We know that our work is producing a lot of fruit in them.

Conference Dinner

In January, we received a visit from three of our friends: Robin and Pam Knoll, accompanied by Ryan Pederson, who are all members of Elmbrook Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They spent three days teaching and spending time with the boys in the school. They were also the speakers in a dinner to collect funds for the college scholarships for the Timothys. This dinner took place on January 28th in a hotel in Jarabacoa and had an attendance of 217 people. The purchase of the tickets for the dinner helped in the scholarship fund. The theme of the conference was: In the Hands of the Potter. We had Ryan (who is a professional potter) mold clay pots while Robin spoke about the theme. More than half of the people who attended hadnt made a profession of faith. This is something that is very interesting because our activities always have the intention of sharing what God has given us, and these activities are very welcomed by the community. At the end of the conference, 4 people accepted the LORD. Here are a few photos so that you can enjoy. During the activity, we received a donation that our brothers and sister from Wisconsin brought. We have an agreement with their church that they will donate double what we collect for each dinner. So, they presented publically their donation that corresponded to the last dinner ($2500 dollars), which will be used for the students who have graduated from high school and who are beginning their college studies. We remind you that there are 2 Timothys who enjoy this benefit and are studying at the local university.

English & French Courses

Even though we are very happy with the ACE (Accelerated Christian Education) system, we need to reinforce the English that they are learning. This is very important so that they can advance and when they are working with their PACES that are in English, they wont get stuck because of the language. We have already tried using the Rosetta Stone Program for English in the past, and we have had a lot of success. Student who have graduated from our school have benefited a lot from this program. We have requested a quote from the Rosetta Stone Company and they have offered us the price of $109 dollars per student annually, so that we would have the possibility to have each and every one of them immersed in English. This price also includes the French language, which is mandatory for fifth grade students and up in the Dominican Republic. Remember, we have a computer lab ready for operating this language program. The price that they have given us is the best that we have been able to find because we know that to buy each program individually, would cost $500 dollars per student. This price is for the Timothy School if we decide to buy the program for the whole group of students. Attached to this newsletter you will see the quote that was later sent with our request. We would like to put this need at your consideration to think how you could help in this program for the future years of these boys. We need churches and/or individuals that will accept the challenge of helping us collect the total amount that we need in order to buy the program for the entire school. If you think you can and would like to help us cover one or more students, or if you know someone who would like to help us, please contact us at the following email address: colegiotimoteo@gmail.com Also, we have a telephone number (Magic Jack) for calls free of cost from Puerto Rico and the United States. You can contact us with that number: 917-668-6253 during office hours (7:30am-1:00pm). Remember that the mailing address has changed (see new address). We hope that you can be a part of this new challenge and we thank you for considering us a fertile ministry. In the love of Jesus,
