Company History

PIL was formerly known as Pennar Steels Ltd. It is engaged in manufacturing of steel products, such as cold rolled steel strips (CRSS) and cold formed metal profiles (CFMP). Its heavy engineering products division manufactures floors, side walls, roofs, end walls and doors, as well as underframe parts for railway wagons and coaches. Its infrastructure division manufactures building products, which include purlins, roofing sheets and deck plates; road safety systems, which includes crash barriers for road safety; fabricated products, such as fabrication of heavy structures for industrial buildings, conveyors, racking systems and boilers. Its building and construction division is engaged in design, manufacture, supply and installation of preengineered steel buildings and building components for industries, warehouses, commercial centres, multistoried buildings, aircraft hangars and stadiums. The company has an installed capacity to manufacture 110,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of CRSS and 105,000 TPA of CFMP and pressed components. In FY10, the company produced 103,749 tonnes of CRSS and 86,760 tonnes of CFMP and pressed components. It has a subsidiary, PEBS, in which the company owns 75%.

1988 was the year when Pennar Industries Limited was born, and since then, Pennar has grown and diversified to become a leading engineering company making a host of steel bsed products. Pennar began by manufacturing Cold Rolled Steel Strips (CRSS) with an installed capacity of 30,000 MTPA. Its first plant was strategically established at Isnapur, 45 km from Hyderabad.

Pennar achieved profits right from the first year of its operation, followed by declaration of dividend from the second year. The company was growing at a rapid pace and thus to incorporate its expansion and demand, Pennar increased its manufacturing capacity to 50,000 MTPA in the year 1997.

Business of the company

Pennar is now a multi-location, multi-product company manufacturing Cold Rolled Steel Strips, Precision Tubes, Cold Rolled Formed Sections, Electro Static Precipitators, Profiles, Railway Wagons and Coach Components, Press Steel Components and Road Safety Systems.

Pennar has set up a subsidiary, Pennar Engineered Building Systems, Which at its state of the art manufacturing facility at Sadashivpet, near Hyderabad designs, manufactures and erects pre-engineered steel buildings.

HYDERABAD, SEPT. 28: Pre-engineered building solutions provider Pennar Industries bagged orders worth Rs 70 crore from two companies in the railways and solar power sectors. Business Standard reported that Pennar Industries Limited, engaged in the production and marketing of specialised and engineered metal products, has received orders worth INR 70 crore. The orders included supply of railway wagon components to Texmaco and structures to 77 MW solar power projects from L&T, Mahindra EPC Services, Lanco, Azure Power and Moser Baer.
