Address Is Plot Number 3, Industrial Area, Phase- 1, Chandigarh. It Was
Established In 1970. So, It Has 49 Years Of Experience.

BPSL Is A Leading Manufacturer Of Flat And Long Products And Have


State-Of The-Art Plants At Chandigarh, Derabassi, Kolkata And Orissa In
India.

They Have Always Been Ahead In The Competitive Market Due To Their
Expanding Product Portfolio, Strategic Marketing Initiatives, Considerable
Brand Investment, Cost Reductions And Investment In Infrastructure.

Pig Iron is manufactured at their Orissa Plant.

Hot Rolled Coils are made by continuous rolling of steel at high


temperature, generally over 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit. They are used for
multitude of applications like precision tubes making, containers, bicycles,
furniture, household appliances, electrical panels, construction,
galvanizing, general engineering etc. Automobile industry used to produce
car body panels. Rolled products are also used for further processing like
color coating.

 HIGH FREQUENCY RESISTANCE WELDING -:
The High Frequency Resistance Welding Process Can Be Used To Weld
Many Types Of Steels, Copper And Its Alloys, Aluminium, Nickel And Its
Alloys, Titanium And Zirconium. However, The Typical Application Of
The Process Is High Rate Production Of Tubes And Pipes. Structural
Sections Like Channel, I-, T- And Box-Sections Can Also Be Welded At
High Rates. Welding Of Carbon Steels And Many Other Alloys Can Be
Accomplished Even When Water Or Oils Are Flowing Over Them.

In Electric Resistance Welding (ERW) process, pipe is manufactured by


cold-forming a flat sheet of steel into a cylindrical shape. Then current is
passed between the two edges of the steel cylinder to heat the steel to a
point at which the edges are forced together to form a bond without the use
of welding filler material.

 Galvanizing Process

Hot-dip galvanizing is the process of immersing iron or steel in a bath of


molten zinc to produce a corrosion resistant, multi-layered coating of zinc-
iron alloy and zinc metal. 

While the steel is immersed in the zinc, a metallurgical reaction occurs


between the iron in the steel and
the molten zinc.  This reaction is a diffusion process, so the coating forms
perpendicular to all surfaces creating a uniform thickness throughout the
part. 

Hot-dip galvanizing has been utilized to protect steel for generations, the
galvanizing process continues to evolve with new technologies and creative
chemistries.  The three main steps in the hot-dip galvanizing process are
surface preparation, galvanizing, and post-treatment

Keeping the contents clean and safe is their primary function. Their
packages have features, which add convenience in distribution, handling,
display, sale, opening, reclosing, use and reuse.
BPSL has always believed that customers should be given prime
importance and all products should meet their requirements. This ideology

Open Door Policy -: Managers maintain an open door policy, and
encourage staff to approach them to ask questions, share ideas, and voice
concerns.

Functions of HR Department -:
Recruitment -:
 Recruitment is one of the major responsibilities of the HR
team. It is the job of HR department to plan and devise strategic campaigns
and guidelines for recruiting suitable candidates for a required job
description.

Training -:
Training is important for new employees to help get acquainted
with the organization’s work pattern. HR department has to incorporate a
training program for every new employee based on the skill set required
for their job.

Employees Relations –:
The HR Department major responsibility is

great interpersonal skills. Employees should feel comfortable coming up to

employees or between the employee and the management, the HR Team
has the right to intervene and help map out a solution.

further growth and development. This helps employees to have a clear view
of what is expected of them and what they are delivering. They can thus,

CASE STUDY

The study conducted at Bhushan Steel Pvt. Ltd. chandigarh, which
does manufacturing of steel in chandigarh, helped in getting a wider
overview about the business environment and managing an
organization.

It was a general study regarding the employees and manager


relations. The company has four functional departments through
which it operates. It is found that company has a good working
environment and healthy relationship is maintained between all
departments for the smooth functioning and achievement of the
organizational goal to maintain the company’s goodwill among the
salesman, distributors and customers.

In 2012 there was an incident happen in BPSL which leads the


policymakers of the company to rethink of their employee policy.
Crisis occurs when H.R manager of the company of that time wants
employee to work overtime to fulfill the market demands. But
employees were not satisfied with the overtime wages. Employee
wants increment in overtime wages but H.R manager were not eager
to do that. Employees refuse to work even in the working hours. H.R
manager discuss problem with the plant manager and plant manager
ask H.R manager to start negotiation with the employees, so that
production will not hamper. Plant manager sends all demands of the
employees to the Board of Directors, and Board of Directors approves
their demands. Crisis lasts for Five days, and finally employees get
back to work with all their demands fulfilled.
