On certain cars, the clip holding the turbocharger pushrod to the arm on the wastegate valvecan come loose. If the clip does come loose, the pushrod can slide off the pin on thewastegate valve arm. As a result, boost pressure control will not function and the valve discwill cause a rattling noise from the turbocharger.

Checking the wiring
The standardised text below can be used here if necessary:Jiggle the wiring harness at several points and in different directions to reveal intermittentbreaks and short-circuits in the wiring harness. Observe the multimeter, test lamp ordiagnostic instrument while doing this.
Diagnostic procedure
1.Undo the hose clip on the charge air pipe and the screw on the bypass pipe. Moveaside the bypass pipe.
The exhaust pipe from the turbocharger canbe extremely hot. Proceed with caution.

 2.Remove the heat shield.3.Carefully knock repeatedly with a screwdriver to get the throttle arm back to itsoriginal position (anticlockwise). Note that the throttle arm must not be turned withpliers or the like as it can break or bend.
The throttle arm must not be twisted with pliersor similar as the arm can break or distort.

 4.If the throttle arm does not return to its original position using the method above,unplug the oxygen sensor connector and remove the primary catalytic converter ordisconnect the front exhaust pipe from the turbocharger. Otherwise, only performsteps 8, 10 and 11.5.Press the tip of a screwdriver against the top right part of the throttle disc whilepressing in the throttle spindle and raising the throttle arm by hand.
