Nima Mohammadi: Historian and Reporter

Events: Trick or Treat Street, Spring District Meeting, Go Green
Presentations
Attendance: All or Almost all of the Weekly Meetings.
Hi guys, my name is Nima Mohammadi, I would like to submit myself for the positions of
reporter and historian for the FBLA board. I am currently a tenth grader and I believe that I could be a
supportive part of the FBLA board for next year, to help continue the ways that were run all throughout
the year, the ways that helped me find a spot within this club.
I believe that I can bring three positive aspects to the FBLA board next year. First, devotion:
having come to almost all of the meetings this year, I believe I have a general mindset of how meetings
are run, and the various jobs that are associated with it, for example, the setting up of the Business
Magazines from time to time, and the writing out of the sign in sheet every week. As reporter, it would
be my job to meticulously follow the various events that are going on in FBLA. Part of my duties would
include taking photographs of the meetings and events that we sponsor. I believe that this is extremely
important for the club. Throughout the year, many of our distinguished members have shown interest in
running Ward Melvilles chapter for chapter of the year. It would be of such benefit to our group if we
had an article published in Tomorrows Business Leader. I have participated in most of the events that I
could, including helping set up for a period for the Trick Or Treat Street, as well as participating in the
Spring District Meeting.
Secondly, drive: even though I knew I was not able to attend the State Leadership Conference, I
strove to be able to participate with FBLA as much as I could, and I went to the Spring District Meeting
and competed in the Business Calculations event, placing second. However, I do not believe that it is
how one does competitively in their event at FBLA that determines what they can do for the club. I
strive to do my best within the club, and believe that it is what I can do for the board as well as the club
that determines who I am within FBLA.
Third, I hope that I can offer character to the board. What I mean to say is when I am assigned a
task, I will, to the best of my abilities, work until the task is completed. I believe I have demonstrated
with the presentation of the Various Committees. I had signed up for the Go Green Committee, and I
was frankly appalled at the fact that no one had helped Dan Yu create the presentation. I spent a deal of
time helping Dan incorporate the Go Green ideas and themes within Long Island, and I created the slides
regarding how going green and becoming environmentally friendly could be of benefit for the Island,
especially regarding the Pine Barrens and their economic and monetary benefit in terms of the water
supply. As your historian, it would be my job to compile a report at the end of the year that would
include the years events, such as the Go Green Presentation! I will continue to help the club in the best
way that I think possible throughout the following year, even if I am not recommended to the board.
Regarding presentations such as these, I will strive to make sure that photographs are indeed taken of
such events, to make sure Melville has a shot for a potential Chapter of the Year, and I would send the
PowerPoint to the years historian to make sure it has been documented. I would also like to address
one more point in my speech: problems that the club faced. During the trick or treat street, I was not
present for the actual event, but I had helped set up, and I heard from the board that the event did not
go as planned, and had a tremendous amount of problems. While the idea (board games) sounded fun,
because of mismanagement, the event did not go smoothly. In a club that stresses in the future,
management of business, why shouldnt we be able to set up a simple event for Halloween? In the
future, I hope to be a part of fixing that problem, and playing a more active role in events such as this, to
make sure that what we aim for as a club actually is the best it can be.
I hope that whoever the future president and vice president are, best of luck to everyone who is
running, I hope I can be a helpful part of the group that works to make sure everything in this club runs
in the best way possibly! Thank you guys very much!
