The Internet is one of the greatest recent advancement in the world of information
technology and has become a useful instrument that has fostered the process of
making the world a global village. The Internet provides several opportunities for
the academia. It is a mechanism for information dissemination and a medium for
collaborative interaction between individuals and their computers without regard for
geographic limitation of space.

Throughout the world, Marketer and Consumer Buying

Behavior (CBB) are changing the face of education. It has been argued that the, if a
marketer can identify CBB, he or she will be in better position to target products and
services at them. The Internet was initially developed by the US Defense
Department and was at one time only popular within the research community. Its
ability to share information across organizations and to interact with people at low
cost has gradually enticed other sectors to explore its use. Today, the Internet has
an impact on every facet of our life including business operation, education,
communication, entertainment, social activity, shopping, and so on. Many
universities around the world are expanding their investment in information
technology (IT), and specifically the Internet, and are actively promoting Internet
use. From a student’s perspective, learning using online tools is multidimensional. It
may entail a multitude of variables such as prior student knowledge of IT,
experience in its usage, perceptions of IT usage, computer competencies, and
background demographics.

The Internet is the world’s largest and most widely used network. It is an
international network of networks that is a collection of hundreds of thousands of
private and public networks all over the world. There are rich and varied learning
experiences available on the Internet that would have been inconceivable just a
short while ago.

The Internet has a range of capabilities that organizations are using to exchange
information internally or to communicate externally with other organizations. The
primary infrastructure for e-commerce, e-banking, e-business, e-learning and virtual
library is provided by the Internet technology. The Internet provides several
opportunities for all academia, business organizations, the employed and the
unemployed, the young and the old. The Internet is a ‘live’ constantly ‘moving’,
theoretically borderless, potentially infinite space for the production and circulation
of information. The Internet might thus be described as a ‘sea of information’,
containing texts which are not housed between library and bookshop walls and
subject areas span across all fields of knowledge. The Internet can be used for other
things besides email.

One can listen to international radio station on research and education on the
Internet, read national dailies of other countries, speak to friends around the global,
read books and other materials on the Internet. The list of things that can be done
on the Internet is a very long one. The Internet contains more information than the
world’s largest libraries with access to the Internet one can retrieve information
from the world’s largest information database.

Part: 01
Introduction
1.1 Background of study:

We are the student of Bangladesh University of Business & Technology (BUBT). For achieving
the BBA degree we have to conduct some courses. According to the course conduct now we are
completing the Research Methodology for Business. Research Methodology for Business is a
practical and theoretical course. Beside the theoretical knowledge, practical knowledge is very
much important for getting appropriate knowledge about the research procedure. In this process
we want to conduct a research which is “Impact of internet facility in young generation”. Our
honorable teacher S.M. Nasim Azad Sir approved this topic.

1.2 Scope of the report:

The scope of the report is limited within the Dhaka city. This report is an analysis on in
which purpose the young generation uses the internet, what is their expectation from the service
provider; how many times they spend by using internet, they are satisfied or dissatisfied with the
current facility. It is not possible for us to study the overall technological (internet) sector
perfectly with proper information. Even after that we have tried to give it a standard form with
limited information.

1.3 Significance of the Report

The report outcome will help to understand the impact of internet on young generation from different
aspects and help to prevent the misuse of internet.

1.4 Objective of the Report

To learn the procedure how to do an effective research, we choose the topic- Impact of internet on
young generation in Dhaka city. We have tried to finish this specific research project at our best. Along
with that, to fulfill the requirement of our business research course (BUS 405) in a realistic and practical
way, what we guess it will be helpful for us in the real job field.

1.4.1 BROAD OBJECTIVE:

To gain detailed understanding on the main impacts of internet on young generation in Dhaka city.

1.4.2
 To better understand the relationship how the internet affects university student’s learning.
 To evaluate whether is their any relationship between the usage of internet and students academic
performance
 To identify the problems of the projected research.
 To determine the influence of internet using on young people of Dhaka.
 To determine what factors are related to internet use.
 To determine the impacts of internet.
 To determine the impacts of internet on study.
 To determine why young people prefer internet.
 To identify the respondents opinions about internet.
 Importance of internet for rural development.

1.5 Limitations of the Report

Limitation of study:
We are very much new in these aspects, so we have some limitation by the preparing of this
report. We have faced some problem. Those are:

 As it was our first practical experience for preparing a report, so some errors might be
occurred. Though we have tried our best to avoid mistakes.
 The sample size is too small, so the result may not be accurate.

PART- 1.2.
PROBLEM DISCOVERY & DEFINITION
This study could be beneficial for student as well as for institutions. The valuable feedback from 100
students should help student to realize the benefits of internet in their education. Institutes can invest more
in internet facilities to enhance the performance of their students and produce better results.

This research will mainly emphasis on the impact of internet on young generation in Dhaka city
PART-1.3.

METHODOLOGY

3.1 Type of Research:

This is an Exploratory type of research. This research will help us to crystallize the impacts and affects
on the society that is occurred by our young generation.

3.2 Sources of information:

In this report all necessary information are collected from primary sources of data.

Primary sources: Primary source is questionnaire survey. It is the systematic collection

of information directly from respondents

3.3 Report evaluation & preparation instrument:

Data has analyzed & report prepared by using -

 MS Excel
 MS Word
 Mechanical Devices(calculator)

3.4 Group Discussion:

We have discussed with a group include 5 members to analyze data and prepare the report on Impacts of
internet on young Generation in Dhaka city, based on related data that we have collected & calculated.
We took help from our honorable course teacher Mr. S. M. Nasim Azad.

PART-1.4.
SELECTION OF RESEARCH MODEL

4.1 Research Design

The topic of this research mainly involves with collection of primary data. This collection is done through
survey method with written questionnaire. The survey has performed based on personal interview and
was conducted at the respondents’ universities & colleges to identify & select young people as sample for
one-to-one face-to-face conversation. Survey questions were sought to gather both qualitative and
quantitative data about the sample. The nature of questions used in the questionnaire was mainly simple-
dichotomy questions with few determinant-choice questions, frequency-determination questions, attitude
rating scale and open-ended questions.
In research design, we have precise what data to gather, from whom, how to collect and how to
investigate the data obtained.

4.2 Objective of using the questionnaire

The whole report is based mostly on primary information, based on which the questionnaire has been
designed to collect relevant information. The survey method has been selected as the research tool for
following reasons.
 Accuracy of Report: Survey is the best way to research. Questionnaire is one kind of tool of
survey research. So we used it.
 Time efficiency: We had time constraints, and getting questionnaires filled up by the
respondents was also time-consuming, so making short format questionnaire.
 Convenience: Questionnaire design is a simpler and easier way to collect responses and
conduct the survey. So it was convenient for us to use this tool.
 Cost efficiency: We found that this method was relatively cheaper as we only needed to
print a copy and then make copies of it and then distribute them to the respondents.
 Less possibility of getting wrong information: Here if the respondent did not
understand any meaning of the questionnaire, then we could easily make them understand. So
there was less possibility of making mistake.

4.3 Measurement Scales

At first, when we have prepared questions, we have tried to avoid leading and loading questions, double
barreled question and ambiguity. We have made our questions relevant that is supportive for us to solve
our research problem.

To measure the attitude or response of the respondents on questions of research topic, we have used
several measurement scales in our questionnaire, like-

 Simple Attitude scale.

 Category scale.
 Likert scale.
 Monadic Rating scale etc.

PART- 1.5.
SAMPLE DESIGN

5.1 Sample selection

In our research we have focused mainly on the young aged especially the students of colleges &
universities in the Dhaka city. Our survey has conducted based on Non-probability sampling techniques.
We have used Convenience sampling for the purpose of this research to select our required sample
respondents. Interviewers have randomly moved toward respondents available at different locations of
colleges and universities for sample selection. This method has used due to inadequate time and resource
constrains. Although this method may not represent the actual insight of the population, it has rapidly
done for acceptable outcomes. Respondents has selected non-randomly from the likely students of
different colleges and universities.

5.2 Determine Sample size

Using statistical tools to determine sample size would have demanded the need for calculations on various
other factors, but for the time constrains & convenience sampling technique none of that was required.
So, our honorable course teacher has set our sample size. The total sample size is 100.

5.3 Summary of overall sample design

The overview of the sample design that we have considered for our specific research on the selected
topic, “Impact of internet on young generation in Dhaka city”, is summarized below-

Target Population: who uses internet and student of college & university.
 Identifying survey population is one of the critical parts of the research. If population is not
defined properly then we may not get actual result from the research. Population is quite different
for different research problems. The people who share common characteristics are called
population.
 Here our target population is young generation who use internet. We have mainly considered
students of colleges & universities in Dhaka city.
Sample:
 We have taken 100 selected respondents (students).
Sampling Procedure:
 Non-probability sampling techniques. We have especially focused on Convenience sampling.

PART- 1.6.
FORM OF ANALYSIS OF SAMPLE & OBSERVATIONS
 Frequency: we breakup the samples age, education, income level, frequent of smoking, daily
spend on cigarette, longest time of using internet.
 We have done Mean, Median & Mode on the significant sample segments.
 We have also identified Standard deviations of the relative data.

PART- 1.7.
METHOD OF OBTAIN DATA
After getting all the questionnaires filled up, each of the questions was coded along with the variables &
transformed the qualitative data into quantitative. Here, all of the options in each of the questions are
entered to make a database. This database (data sheets) then has becomes the source of future analysis.
With the help of the data sheets then it has been analyzed by using various methods like- frequency,
average, standard deviation, co-efficient of variance, correlation and regression.

PART- 1.8.
DEVELOPING THE DATA ANALYSIS

In this form, given below, we have analyzed our collected data of questionnaire survey-

 Editing: Editing is the process of checking the data for necessary corrections. We found different
types of errors in responses-some of the questions were not filled up properly, some of them were
left incomplete. We wanted to avoid missing values as much as possible. We also corrected some
of our mistakes in the end which we made while analyze.

 Coding: Each question was being coded to a computer readable form. We have transformed the
qualitative data into quantitative. Then the data were entered from the questionnaires. This was
time consuming and needed much skill. (Code: Yes/ Agree- 1, No/ Disagree- 2)

 Data entry: After entering all the responses from each question, the data entering part was done.
Then we proceeded forward for the final job, which was analysis.

 Data Analysis: By using MS Excel, we put the formula, and then the software automatically
gave us the result. We have got a number of tables, charts by this process. Then we proceeded for
the data conversion and interpretation part.

 Data conversion: All the analyzed result sheets have converted into managerially
understandable form. We converted them to word documents, made tables, graphs and wrote the
analysis with words.

Board band connection is very popular for its high speed.
Most of the young agreed that their expense is increasing on internet.

RECOMMENDATIONS
First social awareness has to create against misuse of internet.
The bad impacts of internet should be presented to the young people from different perspective.
The line charge of internet should be lower.
It should be restricted the maximum of line charge.
The availability of internet should be increased.
Young people, mainly students, spend a large portion of their daily time at educational
institutions. So, educational institutions have great opportunity to learn them about internet using.

Finally, above all, self willingness is the major motivation to right use of internet.
Because it very difficult to tackle a young from the misuse of internet
