Orientation session, what is it?

• An orientation session is a program or procedure in which a


new hire is provided with the basic background information
about a firm

• It should at least accomplish the following functions:

 make the new employee feel welcome


 Present the broad picture of the organization
 Clearly present the expected work and behavior of the new
employee
 Help him socialize with the ways the company does things

• Reduce the O.S to the HR department only

• Provide too much of irrelevant information

• Making the new hire feel alone

Orientation session week 1

• Plot:
Green food (G-food) has been in search of a “…….” Since the
previous … has been promoted to a higher level, the organization
needed to fill the vacancy as soon as possible. After the recruitment
process, Mister … has been selected to feel the position. Since the
organization is emerging in the retail sector, Mister … knows that the
organization expects much from him. His stress level has increased,
and He’s worried about how the organization works, and also about
whether he’ll succeed in this organization. Our assignment then as a
HR team is to introduce him with the organization’s environment, to
make him feel comfortable and welcomed, to create in him
confidence, motivation and commitment toward the organization.
