Salahuddin Mustafa Letter 10-7-10
ATTORNEYS AT LAW
HAND DELIVERED
October 7, 2010
In accordance with my previous communications to you (including, but not limited to,
my letters of March 24, 2010, March 25, 2010, March 26, 2010, June 25, 2010 and
August 19, 2010), the Ansonia Police Department has expected you to resume your
active employment as an officer in the department. The issues involving your trial and its
disposition are not germane to your continued status as an employee of the City of
Ansonia Police Department.
To date, despite my earlier letters to you requesting that you resume employment, you
continue your unauthorized absence.
Concededly, you have attempted to rely upon the opinion of Harry Adamakos, PhD to
justify your absence. However, I do not understand him to be a medical doctor. Nor do I
understand that any worker’s compensation claim is pending.
Additionally, the City of Ansonia has been advised that you are presently employed
fulltime by the Greater Bridgeport Transit Agency.
In light of all of the above, the Ansonia Police Commission will convene a hearing to
consider the status of your employment as an Ansonia Police Officer. The hearing will
be held on October 14, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. in the Enlingheuser Room (second floor) at
Ansonia City Hall. At that time, the Commission will consider and may take action
regarding permanent suspension or termination of employment and forfeiture of some or
all of your rights, privileges and entitlements under the current Collective Bargaining
Agreement. Specifically, the Commission will consider:

In considering the above, the Commission will, inter alia, consider the Connecticut
General Statutes, the current Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Ansonia Charter and
Ordinances, and the Ansonia Police Department Duty Manual.
At the hearing, the Commission will accept any testimony evidence, rebuttal or argument
you wish to present. Lieutenant Cota and/or his agent of the Ansonia Police Department
shall present to the Commission the above referenced information. Further, the
individual presenting the information may make statements based upon his or her
investigation of this matter.
You are entitled to attend the hearing. At the hearing, if you choose, you can be
represented by an attorney or union representative. You or the person speaking on your
behalf shall have a reasonable opportunity to review all evidence presented and to cross-
examine any of the mentioned witnesses. Additionally you will have a reasonable time to
present any countervailing evidence and to call any witnesses of your own. You also
have the right and/or option of requiring that the hearing be convened in executive or
closed session.
