ANSWER ANY FIVE QUESTIONS

21. (a) Convert (+54) and (+23) to binary using the signed 2's complement 8 representation and enough digits to
accommodate the numbers. Perform the binary equivalent of (+54) + (-23), (-54) + (+23) and (-54) + (-23). Convert
the answers back to decimal and verify that they are correct.
(b) Find the 9's and 10's complement for the following decimal numbers. 4
(i) 95476381
(ii) 40056740

22. (a) Express the complement of the following function in sum of min-terms. 6
F (A, B, C, D) = 2: (0, 2, 6,11,13,14)
(b) Given the Boolean function: F=XY+X'Y'+Y'Z 6
a) Implement it with OR and inverter gates
b) Implement it with AND and inverter gates.

23. (a) Simplify the Boolean function using 4-variable k-map. 6

F (A, B, C, D) = 2: (2,3,10,11,12,13,14,15)
(b) Design a Full subtractor with three inputs x, y, z and two outputs D and B. 6
The circuit subtracts x-y-z, where z is the input-borrow, B is the output borrow and D is the difference.

24.(a) Implement F=(AB'+A'B)(C+D') using only with NOR gates. 6

(b) Draw the block diagram of a BCD adder, which adds two BCD digits and 6 produces a BCD sum. Explain it.

25. (a) Realize an SR-Iatch with two NAND gates 4
(b) Design a sequential circuit specified below by the state diagram using JK 8

flip-flops.

26 Construct & explain the 4-bit universal shift register, which is capable of
shifting in both directions with parallel load capacity.

27. Construct 4-bit up-down binary counter using T-flip flop and explain how it performs counting.
