groups, like the Center for Biological Diversity, the Humane Society of
the United States, Help Our Wolves Live, and the Student Animal Legal
Defense Fund one thing is obvious -
Their sights remain set on the courts.
Not only are they preparing to challenge any move by the Service to
delist the wolves in the courts, they are preparing to argue every angle
imaginable to win.
Even though wolves have far exceeded recovery goals, these groups know
that in court, the smallest technical detail, unrelated to whether or not
the wolves have recovered, can block the delisting.
This tactic undermines wildlife conservation by taking conservation

decisions out of the hands of wildlife professionals and putting them in
the hands of judges. Unchecked wolf populations threaten stable
Attention All States: Prepare to be Sued Over Wolves populations of other wildlife like deer and elk, they threaten the safety of
hunting dogs and pets, and they threaten livestock. And, as wolf
populations continue to grow, the possibility of aggressive wolf incidents
towards people will also grow.
Moreover, these lawsuits can delay the delisting of a species for years on
end while costing the states and federal government thousands of
taxpayer dollars.
Overall, there is too much at stake for the management of a fully

recovered wolf population, or any other wildlife population for that
matter, to be based on a technical legal ruling instead of science based

help the fish in Miami State Fishing Lake live in peace.”
Current Governor Mark Parkinson declined the offer.

Forest Service to Consider Banning Gun Hunting in Huron-Manistee
Columbus, OH --(Ammoland.com)- As a result of a recent anti- National Forest
hunting court ruling, the U.S. Forest Service is starting a formal review
of its Management Plan for the Huron-Manistee National Forest to Tags: Anti-Hunting Groups, Hunting Bans, Ohio, U.S. Forest Service

In September, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Forest
Service’s regulations required that it consider banning hunting with guns
on lands designated as “semi-primitive.”
The Court found that the noise associated with gun hunting could harm
the quality of the recreational experience of hikers, backpackers, and
cross county skiers.
Just as troublesome, the Court ruled that the Forest Service was required
to consider closing these areas to gun hunting in places where there is
other public, non-Forest land nearby that is open to gun hunting. This
could require the Forest Service to close lands currently open for gun
hunting when other state or federal hunting lands are opened.
The court ruling has prompted the Forest Service to start a formal review

waterfowl can be hunted during the extra deer-gun weekend.
Donations of extra deer will be accepted through the entire deer season
which ends on February 6, 2011. Hunters who give their deer to a food
bank are not required to pay the processing cost as long as the deer are
taken to a participating processor and funding for the effort lasts.

Ohio hunters and birdwatchers are reminded that they will need to be
aware of one another as they pursue deer and birds on this shared
weekend. Hunters need to remember that there may be other
people—both hunters and non-hunters— in the woods. Birders are also
reminded that hunters are allowed to hunt wherever they have written
permission to hunt. And, while hunters are required to wear hunter
orange in the field, birders should consider wearing a hunter orange vest
or hat during the deer-gun weekend.

buck firearms season, which ran from Nov. 22 through Dec. 4, according
to Frank Jezioro, Director of the West Virginia Division of Natural
Resources (DNR).
The 2010 buck harvest was 31 percent less than the 2009 harvest of
62,986. The top ten counties for buck harvest were as follows: Preston
(2,030), Randolph (1,817), Hardy (1,350), Greenbrier (1,348), Mason

This year’s buck harvest is significantly lower than last year, with

recommendations will be available for public review at 12 regulations
meetings scheduled for March 14 and 15, 2011 (see current 2010 – 2011
Hunting and Trapping Regulations Summary page 5 or visit the DNR Gun Owners Year in Review - 2010

deer season in selected counties on both public and private land ends

will be open on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 27 and 28 in any county with
a firearms deer season, and will be followed by a three-day reopening of
antlerless deer season (Dec. 29 – 31) in 46 counties or portions of

Minnesota --(Ammoland.com)- A 24-year-old felon from Red Lake was

indicted today in federal court in St. Paul for allegedly possessing a .24
caliber rifle and a nine—millimeter pistol in July of 2010.
The indictment charges Fabian Wayne English with two counts of being
a felon in possession of a firearm.
The indictment alleges that on July 21, 2010, English possessed a .24
caliber rifle, and that on July 22, 2010, he possessed a nine-millimeter
pistol. Because he is a felon, English is prohibited under federal law from
possessing a firearm or ammunition at any time. English’s prior felonies
include a 2006 conviction in the District of Minnesota for assault
resulting in serious bodily injury and a 2010 conviction in Becker County
for fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.
If convicted, English faces a potential maximum penalty of ten years in
