Herbal medicine is defines as the use of natural herbs and plants for the treatment or
diseases, disorders and for the promotion of good health. Medicinal plants and

GAMOTherbs has beenused by our Filipino forefathersfor many centuries. This knowledge was passed
on from generationto generation. In the past few years, a renewed interest on this natural
method of treatment arose not only in the Philippine but worldwide. This popularity will
NA continue as medical sciencevalidates the affectivity of many medicinal herbsas alternative
medicine. Thisactivity will beundertaken to continue the tradition of Filipinos and not totally
NAKAGdisregard the many uses of theseherbal plants. That despite the many technological innovations,
the tradition will go on as long as time will permit.
AGALIDESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY
NG, of Health,Theits activity will be a one day lecture about the 10 Herbal Plants approved by theDepartment
uses and medicinal value, and demonstration of how it is prepared. The participants
will be the youth from Buyoan Legazpi City. The organizerswill be selected fourth year students
KABATfrom Bicol University College of Nursing who have the primary purpose of educating the youth
about these herbal plants.
AAN The program will begin with an opening prayer followed by an opening remarks.Lectures
will then be commencing to be given by the organizers. Visual aids will be utilized to effectively
ATINdeliver the information to the youth. After the lecture, demonstrationon how to prepare the herbal
plants will immediately follow. The procedures will be decoction and syrup making. Lagundi
ITONGleaves will be used in the making of syrup while akapulko leaves will be utilized in the decoction. 
