Smarthistory.org is a sustainable, award-winning open educational resource in art history currently being used by several leading open university and open educational initiatives. Smarthistory is used by informal learners and college students and is increasingly being adopted by instructors teaching AP and college-level art history in lieu of the traditional, and expensive, art history textbook. This workshop will give hands-on experience to those interested in the successful model Smarthistory has developed. It will offer an overview of Smarthistorys iterative development, its model for sustainability, its workflow, and a demonstration of the back-end of the open-source content management system - MODx. Participants will take part in a group activity that demonstrates the value of conversation in online pedagogy. *Additional registration required
