Abstrak
Mata pelajaran pendidikan muzik dalam Kurikulum Bersepadu SekolahMenengah (KBSM) telah diperkenalkan oleh Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysiapada tahun 1995 sebagai satu kesinambungan dari pendidikan muzik di sekolahrendah yang telah bermula seawal tahun 1982. Hasil dari kesinambungan inimaka pihak kerajaan melihat pendidikan seni dan muzik perlu diberi perhatianyang lebih serius sehingga tertubuhnya Sekolah Seni Malaysia. Penulisan iniakan membincangkan tentang harapan serta cabaran yang bakal dihadapi olehpelajar, guru, masyarakat serta pihak kerajaan dalam merealisasikan hala tujuSekolah Seni Malaysia. Fokus penulisan ini memberi tumpuan terhadap programpendidikan muzik dari aspek syarat-syarat kemasukan pelajar, pelaksanaankurikulum, ujian dan pengukuran serta cabaran-cabaran yang dihadapi.Metodologi yang digunakan dalam kertas seminar ini menggunakan kaedahtemu bual informal bersama pegawai muzik di Bahagian Sekolah, seorang gurupendidikan muzik yang mengajar di Sekolah Seni Malaysia serta rujukan
 
perpustakaan. Kertas kerja ini diharapkan dapat memberi sedikit gambaran apayang terjadi terhadap perkembangan pendidikan muzik di Malaysia.
 ABTRACT Music Education in Integrated Curriculum for Secondary School wasintroduced by Malaysia Ministry of Education in 1995 as a continuation of Primary Music Education which started in early 1982. The government sees that music and arts education needs to be given serious attention and this has led tothe setting up of Malaysia Arts School. This paper will discuss the hopes and challenges which will be faced by the students, teachers, society and thegovernment to make this project a reality. This write up will be focusing on music education programme from the aspects of students' enrollment qualifications,curriculum execution, tests and evaluation and other forthcoming challenges.The methodology applied in this seminar paper is through informal interviewsconducted with Music Education Officer at Schools Department, a music educator teaching at Malaysia Arts School. A library research was also done toget a framework on how the write up is supposed to be structured. This seminar  paper is hoped to give a general description of what will happen to thedevelopment of Music Education in Malaysia in the future.
