Center Theatre Group (CTG) is seeking an individual to join the Production Department as the Assistant Technical Director.

This is a full-time, exempt, fullybenefited position. POSITION SUMMARY: Assist the Technical Director in planning and executing all physical productions at CTGs Mark Taper Forum, Kirk Douglas and Ahmanson theatres. A. Knowledge and essential skills 1. Excellent technical skills and proficiency in drafting (AutoCAD), scenic construction techniques, rigging, and budget management. 2. Clear and persuasive communicator, both written and verbal. Ability to work collaboratively with designers, directors and other CTG staff. 3. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office programs. Basic knowledge of Vectorworks. 4. Ability to work independently and communicate with other staff through phone calls, faxes and e-mails. 5. Experience in managing crews. B. Minimum requirements: Essential functions and abilities 1. Ability to drive a car. 2. Ability to multi-task and work with deadlines. 3. Ability to remain calm and productive in difficult situations demonstrating good people skills and a sense of humor. 4. Ability to work long hours, i.e. a 40 hour week plus weekends and evenings, as necessary during technical rehearsals. 5. Ability to travel extensively, both inside and outside of the country via plane, automobile, etc. 6. Ability to lift 50 lbs and handle extensive standing, walking, and step-climbing. C. Education, Experience and Licensing 1. Previous experience with Technical Direction of a complex organization. 2. B.A. or better in theatrical production. 3. Knowledge and understanding of non-profit theatres.
