RENAISSANCE -- ADDED CREDIT Page 1 of 1

There are three projects available for this unit. Each of them is explained below and worth up to 7 points.
These projects are due December 18, 2007.
How the Crusades Led to Rebirth (Renaissance)
This project may be done either individually or in a team of two or three people. The project requires the
student(s) to read the article "How the Crusades Led to Rebirth (Renaissance)". Then graphically show (on a
poster) the connection between the events that connected to Crusades (the end of the Middle Ages) to the
Renaissance.

Renaissance
The term "Renaissance Man" describes a person who is excellent at many different things. Leonardo da
Vinci was described as a "Renaissance Man

Project 1 (2 pts.) - using the website “Leonardo" (http://www.museoscienza.org/english/leonardo/),


list 1 invention that Leonardo da Vinci had either designed or made each of the five categories: war
machines, work machines, flying machines, water and land machines, architecture. Explain what the
machine is your own words, whether he actually built the machine, and what it is called today
Project 2 (5 pts.) - write a 3 paragraph essay in which you do the following. Each paragraph must
have a least 5 sentences. The first paragraph must include a summary of Leonardo's life. Second paragraph
must include a description of several types of machines Leonardo had thought of inventing or actually
invented. The last paragraph must explain why Leonardo was considered a "Renaissance Man."

Protestant Reformation
Project 1 (2 pts.) - using the website " Martin Luther-1483 – 1546 German Reformer
" (http://www.hyperhistory.com/online_n2/people_n2/persons6_n2/luther.html) draw a timeline to scale of
Martin Luther’s life. Make sure you label the events; for instance born 1483 in Eisleben, Germany.

Project 2 (5 pts) - write a 3 paragraph essay in which each paragraph must have a least 5 sentences.
The first paragraph must summarized Martin Luther's problems with the Catholic Church; 2nd paragraph
explain what the Catholic Church did in response to Martin Luther's "95 Thesis"; the 3rd paragraph describing
the war that followed. Use the following website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protestant_Reformation
