Georgetown, Monday 24th August 2010 Ordinary men became instant heroes when they rushed to save victims of the tsunami that struck Penang Island yesterday. At Miami Beach in Tanjung Bungah, the deadly tidal waves first struck at 1.15pm, sweeping away holiday makers into the sea. Although there was a slim chance of anyone surviving the massive waves, it did not stop 32 years old boat operator Mr. Hisham from searching for survivors. There were many people on the beach at that time. One minute they were there and next they were missing. It was very scary, he said. Prime Minister was full of praise for the islands beach boys for helping to empty the beaches of tourists just before the killer waves struck. The Prime Minister also conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased.
