A Publication of Ten Woods Institute, Inc.

www.tenwoods.org Version 2.0. Published May 17th, 2012

Purpose
1. This manifesto is a deposition on the principles of leadership and a call to action.

Assumptions
2. For peace and prosperity to coexist in a world of competing interests we must broaden our perspective on leadership. 3. The skills of leadership are not confined to the executors of business, government or religion. 4. The world is an increasingly uncertain and hypercompetitive place with challenges proportional to its complexity. 5. The future will be shaped by leaders who thrive on uncertainty.

What We Believe
6. Leadership is the application of skills in a manner that inspires others to produce a desired result. 7. Greater complexities and uncertainties pose a threat to global stability as populations grow and nations develop. An increasingly complex and hypercompetitive world calls for leadership that transcends the conventional. 8. Leadership skills can be learned. 9. Leaders are found in all walks of life. 10. The challenge to leaders of tomorrow begins with this call to action. Learn, Apply and Teach. a. Learn: Explore and discover. Pull what you need from available resources and dont be afraid to ask for help. Do not depend entirely upon institutions and others to package and deliver the skills you need. Acquiring leadership skills requires passion and commitment. Find yours. b. Apply: Practice what you learn. Volunteering is a great way to practice and hone your skills. c. Teach: If you learn something that works, pass it on. 11. All mankind shall benefit from your knowledge and application of advanced leadership skills, however small or unsung your efforts may be.
