Rally cars rev-up in Dunblane

IT was high revs all the way as Dunblane Hydro played host to a grand starting line-up of sport and classic cars. It was all part of a charity Miles of Mystery tour to raise funds for the Bart Foundation which was formed after the death of a famous Dutch TV presenter called Bart De Graff. Organisers are expecting to raise around 15,000 from the event which sees drivers tour Scotland for five days from Dunblane up into the Highlands. Leading the way at the start was Barts Porsche 993, driven away by his sister and brother-in-law. A spokesperson for the charity said: It is important for us to raise this money for the Bart Foundation and the Dunblane Hydro is a great place to start.

Teenage outdoor enthusiast Sandy Dickson, whose motto was living - its the only thing worth dying for, lost his life in an accidental drowing in Canada eight years ago. But turning their loss into some good, his parents, who founded the Sandpiper Trust a year later, have saved lives by providing rural GPs across the country with over 700 emergency response kits.
