A Glance at Whitley Citys Weekly Targets...

Welcome to the Whitley City! This year will be filled with exciting new learning experiences and wonderful memories! Please note that each week, this news letter will be sent in an email as well as posted on the blog. Please use this to help you and your child prepare for the upcoming week. Again, welcome to third grade and I look forward to a magnificent year! Sincerely, Mrs. Whitley TARGETS READING: -I can identify the different parts of a story. -I can define new vocabulary. -I can use strategies to help decode unfamiliar words. -I can identify the 6 syllable types. -I can identify the genre of a book. S.S.: -I can describe myself. -I can identify the students in my class. WRITING: -I can brainstorm ideas. -I can write a letter. -I can begin drafting in my writers notebook. MATH: -Testing SPELLING: -To get students used to the
3rd grade spelling test routine, a practice spelling list has been created. Please use this as an opportunity to get your child on a routine of practicing their spelling words each night. Students will be expected to take a pre and post test this week.
