Victorian School Day

Dear Parents, On Wednesday 17th October 2012, pupils in Year 5 will be taking part in a Victorian School Day. This day will give the children an opportunity to find out a little of what it was like to go to school during Victorian times. They will be carrying out many tasks children used to carry out, such as reading, writing and arithmetic (The 3 Rs) as well as PE, dictation, handwriting, art and geography. They will also have the chance to taste the delights of gruel. We would like the children to dress in Victorian-type clothing to fit in with the event. This need not mean buying any special items of clothing, unless you wish. Boys can just wear a shirt, neck scarf, trousers tucked into socks and perhaps a flat cap. Girls can wear long skirts or dresses, tops (blouses and cardigans) and perhaps an apron. If you have any questions relating to this event, please do not hesitate to contact any of the Year 5 teaching staff.

Yours sincerely

Mr G Rothwell Headteacher
