Dissolving Experiment

Aim
To experiment on which of sugar or salt would dissolve the fastest in hot water.

Hypothesis
I think that the salt would dissolve faster than the sugar because the white grains are smaller and lighter. I dont think that the sugar would dissolve fast because usually during cooking in order the sugar to dissolve we need to stir it.

Materials Used
Transparent glass cup Hot water Sugar Salt Timer Thermometer

Method
Experiment 1:
1. Measure up 1 tablespoon of sugar 2. Boil hot water

Experiment 2:
1. Measure up 1 tablespoon of salt

2. Boil hot water 3. Pour in the hot water in to a transparent glass cup 3. Pour in the hot water in to a 4. Add the 1 tablespoon of sugar in the cup with hot water transparent glass cup 5. Time to see when would the sugar dissolve in the hot water

Experiment:

Materials Setup

First Experiment (sugar)

Second Experiment (salt)

Conclusion:
My hypothesis was correct because when I did the experiment, the salt was really light like sand but the sugar was shiny and I could easily see the grains like tiny pebbles. During the experiment, I saw that the salt really dissolve fast but the sugar gradually dissolve in the water.
