Preserving the Jewish Influence on American Comedy

The non-profit Jewish Comedy Institute (JCI)


honors the great Jewish humorists and all they have done and continue to do to shape American Humor. Our organization is spearheading a wide variety of initiatives to locate, preserve, and share a wealth of material created by the greatest of comedians.

The JCI is open to people of all ages, backgrounds, and denominations. Anyone who
is interested in exploring and preserving a legacy like no other is invited to contact us and become part of an important, intriguing, and of course very funny mission.

The planned JCI facility will house state-of-the art spaces and world-class resources for developing, promoting, and supporting: exhibits, repositories, events, teaching, entertainment, and more. You are invited to participate in our capital campaign to open a headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Jewish Comedy Institute might be thought if as a type of Humor University fulfilling its mission to both the Jewish population and the rest of the world through a defined set of goals that: Serve as a centralized institution offering unprecedented collections of comedy material related to Jewish humor. Offer classes and workshops for both Jews and non-Jews alike to study comedy. Operate a world-class performance center featuring some of the most respected names in American comedy. Pair up businesses, organizations, and agencies with resources and people. Build bridges between ethnic and religious communities using comedy as a common language. The JCI will be the first entity of its kind to document the rich legacy of the Jewish contribution to comedy in all its forms. Through an assortment of internal and outreach programs, the Jewish Comedy Institute will:
