Date: October 15, 2012 A new Lake Research Partners poll1 of Californias 36th congressional district shows Democrat Raul Ruiz leading incumbent Republican Mary Bono Mack by 3 points. While Republicans are at a slight advantage in party registration, CA-36 is clearly leaning Democratic this year, with Obama leading Romney by 5 points. Voters also believe that Dr. Ruiz would better handle several issues compared to Bono Mack, including protecting Medicare and Social Security and improving health care. District 36 is ready for change and Ruiz is well-situated to win this seat.

Lake Research Partners conducted a poll of 406 likely 2012 general election voters in Californias 36 Congressional District. Live telephone interviews were conducted in English and Spanish from October 2-4, 2012. Sampling error is +/- 4.9%.
th
Ruiz now has a better than 2 to 1 favorability rating among likely voters while over a third of voters have unfavorable impressions of Bono Mack. Still 46% have no impression of Ruiz, which underscores the need for voters to hear more about Ruiz and what he stands for.
With only a month before Election Day and 9% of voters still undecided, the Raul Ruiz campaign needs to continue introducing Ruiz to independent voters and drawing a clear contrast with Bono Macks record in Washington. There is a clear path to victory with enough resources to communicate with voters in District 36.
