CA-36 Poll: Ruiz Leads Bono Mack

A poll of likely voters in California's 36th congressional district shows Democrat Raul Ruiz leading incumbent Republican Mary Bono Mack by 3 points. While Republicans have a slight registration advantage, the district is leaning Democratic in 2012 with Obama leading Romney by 5 points. The poll also indicates voters believe Ruiz would do a better job than Bono Mack on issues like Medicare, Social Security, and healthcare. With a month until Election Day and 9% undecided, the summary says Ruiz needs to continue introducing himself to independent voters and draw contrasts with Bono Mack's record to win the seat.

Ruiz now has a better than 2 to 1 favorability rating among likely voters while over a third of voters have unfavorable impressions of Bono Mack. Still 46% have no impression of Ruiz, which underscores the need for voters to hear more about Ruiz and what he stands for.

With only a month before Election Day and 9% of voters still undecided, the Raul Ruiz campaign needs to continue introducing Ruiz to independent voters and drawing a clear contrast with Bono Macks record in Washington. There is a clear path to victory with enough resources to communicate with voters in District 36.
