Definition
The person in a work of fiction. or The characteristics of a person.
A protagonist is, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, the leading character or one of the major characters in a drama, movie, novel, or other fictional text. An antagonist is a person who actively opposes or is hostile to someone or something; an adversary.
The Protagonist
The protagonist is the main character in a story, novel, drama, or other literary work; the character that the reader or audience empathizes with.
The Antagonist
The antagonist is the villain in the story whose actions work against the protagonist or main character in the story. The antagonist's role is to defeat, destroy or make life difficult for the protagonist.

Characterization
Characters are...
Individual well - rounded, many sided and complex personalities. Dynamic- developing, many sided personalities that change, for better or worse, by the end of the story. Static - Stereotype, have one or two characteristics that never change and are emphasized e.g. brilliant detective, scrooge, cruel stepmother, wicked witch etc.

Adjectives that describe the character. What would a character who is timid look, act, think, talk? How would other characters react to a timid character?
