Mock exam- Hotel Babylon In the clip of hotel Babylon Levi Strauss theory of binary opposites is represented in ethnicity.

This is highlighted between police vs. immigration. The first shot that you see of the police officers is a shot reverse shot. This is shown when they make the statement Im not coming in but Im making sure no one comes out. The camera starts on the police cuts to a worker then cuts back to the police as they speak again. Before the shot reverse shot its an over the shoulder shot to show what the police officers are looking at. When the director cuts to the second scene with the immigration officers walking into the front of the hotel, you see the receptionists, this leads into an eye line shot, an eye line shot is where the camera is looking at the characters face then cutting to what they are looking at. This occurred in this scene because you saw the receptionist then it cut to the police officer who she was directly looking at. Later on in the clip you get to see a lot of close up images on keys. You see this image through a gate. These images are metaphoric to a prison, even though they have fleed their countries they are still being locked up and isolated. When all the immigrants are rushing to get into the cupboards it shows fast pace, this is shown into a long shot because you can see the immigrants rushing and shuffling their feet on the floor, pushing each other, this shows that they are scared and worried that they are going to be seen. The sound throughout the hotel Babylon clip changes, for example when the immigrants are waiting in the room, you can hear an orchestra in the background, it shows there emotions and how scared they are from what is going to happen. The sound is non-digetic as the actors cant hear it themselves. The final scene is when you see the close up of the images with the mans photo of his family. This shows emption on how they feel about the man being taken and how much he meant to them because that could have been them.
