1ST WEEK 1. Eat ones word. Definition :- To admit that one is wrong. Example :- The coach said that I could never be the champion but I have made him eat his words by winning the championship. 2. Eat out of a persons hand. Definition :- To be meekly obedient to someone. Example :- The babysitter had the children eating out of her hands by the time their parents returned. 2ND. WEEK 3. An eye or an eye. Definition :- Retaliation in kind. Example :- The boys were so angry at being tricked by us that they thought up a situation to get back at us for as the saying goes, an eye for an eye. 4. Face the music. Definition :- Take punishment. Example :- Be prepared to face the music as the principal knows that you have played truant the past two days. 3RD. WEEK 5. Fall on deaf ears. Definition :- To be ignored. Example :- All the advice given to my sister fell on deaf ears. She still refuses to study. 6. Go by the book. Definition :- Follow the rules closely. Example :- Although the girl is his daughter, the judge had to go by the book when she appeared before him on a charge of shoplifting. 4TH. WEEK 7. Keep the ball rolling. Definition :- Keep things going. Example :- On Canteen Day, when the sandwiches we had prepared sold out by lunch time, we got together to prepare some more to keep the ball rolling as Canteen Day was scheduled to end at 5.00 p.m. 8.
