MATH HOMEWORK due Friday 11th January Read this fully before you start For homework this

week we would like you to CAREFULLY have a look at packaged food items in your kitchen (include a look in the cupboards). Then we would like you to categorise the items into whether they are mainly made of: Plastic e.g. milk bottles Glass e.g. wine bottles Cardboard e.g. cereal packets Recyclable steel e.g. baked bean tins, tuna tins, spaghetti tins Aluminium cans e.g. coke cans Other this is just in case you see an item and you are unsure what category is should be in Record the information on the tally table like the one below. Make sure you draw yours in your MATH BOOK.

In your math book, after writing the date and a title, draw a bar graph to show the details you have found remembering the key rules on how to draw a bar graph: title, mark and label the axes, draw them neatly and use a ruler for all straight lines... Finally, write a paragraph (5 to 10 sentences) explaining what you found. For example, what is the most common item in your kitchen? why that might be? Please ensure an adult knows you are doing this activity before you start looking through kitchen cupboards and so you can do it at a convenient time e.g. not while dinner is being cooked!
