Statement of the Problem


The primary purpose of this study is to determine the strategies of adapting emotionally of nurses caring for mentally challenged children in NCMH

Hypothesis
There is no significant correlation between the respondents' profile and their emotional adaptation strategies in caring

Scope and Limitations


Purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between the profile of the respondents and their emotional adaptation strategies while dealing with mentally challenged children

Respondents are registered nurse working at NCMH with at least 1 year of experience in caring to mentally challenged children.

Scope and Limitations


Self-made questionnaire will be utilized to assess the emotional adaptation strategies of nurses in different phase of nurse-patient interaction. Will be conducted from June 2012 until September of the same year.

Respondents of the Study


30 registered nurses working for at least one (1) year in caring for mentally challenged children at National Center for Mental Health

Research Instrument
Self made questionnaire divided into two (2) main section 1st part demographic profile

2nd part 12 close ended questions that identifies emotional adaptation strategies of nurses during orientation, working and terminal phase of nursepatient interaction.

Data Gathering Procedure

Scouting Locale that can provide appropriate respondents for the study

Securing letter of Permission in conducting research (Hospital/Respondents)

Introduction, Explanation of the research objectives, Securing informed Consent and Assuring the Confidentiality of the data.

Distribution of questionnaires to chosen respondents

Collation of answered questionnaires after one to two weeks

Presentation of data in tabular form, application of appropriate statistical treatment, analysis of data
