Introduction

Mental health is crucial for overall well-being, affecting

psychological, emotional, and social functioning. Research shows that 10-
20% of children and adolescents are affected by mental health issues, with
mental disorders ranking as the leading cause of disability-adjusted life
years in the Philippines. This project aims to improve mental health
awareness and counseling in Ozamiz City National High School,
benefiting students.
Research Questions
1. What is the impact of counseling interventions on improving students' overall
mental health and well-being at Ozamiz City National High School?

2. How effective are counseling interventions in addressing specific mental health

concerns, such as anxiety, depression, or stress, among students at the high
school?

3. What specific challenges do students encounter in managing their mental health

due to factors such as academic pressure, social relationships, or personal
experiences, and how do counseling services address these challenges?
Data Gathering Procedure

With the students’ consent, the researcers’ will have an interview

in order to evaluate their mental health both before and after counseling,
collect other data from them to better understand their experiences, and
more.
Instrumentation

The researchers’ will implement an interview as the instrument

for this action research. The researchers’ will prepare a set of carefully
constructed questions and follow-up questions to asses the information
given for the researchers to know if the action research is effective or
not.
Research Locale

This study will be conducted at Ozamiz City

National High School.
Subjects

The participants of this study will be junior and senior high

school students in Ozamiz City National High School.
Sampling Techniques

The research will employ purposive sampling to ensure that

participants are selected based on their relevance to the study's focus on
improving mental health through counseling at Ozamiz City National
High School.
Results and Findings

After gathering and analyzing the data, the researchers’ aims to

discover the answers to the problems the research seeks to address.

• Incorporate these therapeutic approaches into the
counseling sessions to address specific mental health
concerns among students.

• Develop and implement a comprehensive counseling

program that covers various aspects of mental health,
including stress management, coping mechanisms, and
building resilience.

students.

• Implement a systematic follow-up and monitoring

system to track the mental health progress of students
who undergo counseling.
